RAWLINGS, Marjorie Kinnan (1896-1953). The Yearling. With Illustrations by N. C. Wyeth. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1939. Large 8vo. Illustrated with 14 plates, plus a facsimile letter by Wyeth, and two additional plates for this limited edition. 400 pp. Publisher's full green cloth, front board and spine stamped in gilt, pictorial endleaves, publisher's cardstock chemise and cardboard slipcase (cloth spine a bit sunned, binding very lightly rubbed and toned at edges; chemise and slipcase heavily worn, sunned, toned, several tape repairs, tears, chips to slipcase). Book is fine. FIRST EDITION THUS, ONE OF 770 COPIES SIGNED BY RAWLINGS AND WYETH (this copy unnumbered). This classic won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1939.
