This diverse sale - made up of fine, vintage, and vernacular photographs - will focus closely on the snapshot. Once considered mere "fabrics of yesteryear," these fleeting images have been recently reclaimed by the collecting community, and appreciated for their candid, historical, and visual depth. Includes:

Photographs. Providence, 1970. Limited edition, number 132 of 150. 27 photographs, including Harry Callahan ("Eleanor, 1953"), Bert Beaver ("Leaf, 1969"), and others.

The Fifth Annual Portfolio of the Photographic Education Society. Providence, 1971. Limited edition, number 68 of 150. 27 photographs, including Callahan ("Multiple exposure, 1967"), Richard Lebowitz ("Mathew, 1970"), and others.

The Sixth Annual Portfolio... Providence, 1972. Limited edition, number 28 of 150. 25 photographs, including Callahan ("New York, 1970"), Siskind ("Olive Tree, Corfu 119, 1970"), and others.

 

Condition

Minor scuffs and abrasions to cases, one with partly peeled inventory sticker on spine. Contents fine.
