Ross, Faucett. Important Archive of Over 90 TLSs from Magician Faucett Ross. 1960s ? 80s. Written in Ross?s characteristic longhand, nearly all on blank 4to sheets to fellow magician John Bowery, the letters include lengthy discussions of the methods of magicians, the passing scene of the day (including tantalizing details regarding the activities of those in Ross?s ?inner circle,? among them Dai Vernon, Jay Ose, Ken Brooke, Roger Klause, Bruce Cervon, Charlie Miller, Albert Goshman, and dozens of other well-known performers). Several effects explained by Ross are accompanied by his crude drawings of apparatus or gimmicks needed to perform the tricks. Three letters addressed to Ross are also included in the archive, one from Channing Pollock?s prot?g?, Frank Booker, one from John Braun, and the final, from an unknown correspondent, with fascinating comments regarding David Bamberg?s plans for a lecture tour and his work on a manuscript that would eventually become Illusion Show and The Oriental Magic of the Bambergs.
