SALINGER, J. D. (1919-2010). The Catcher in the Rye. Boston: Little, Brown and Company, 1951. 8vo. 277 pp. Publisher's full black cloth, spine lettered in gilt, publisher's unclipped ("$3.00") mixed early issue dust jacket (with the first issue points: the "$3.00" is over the shoulder of the "R" in "Catcher" and the credit for photographer Lotte Jacobi is present on the rear panel; however, Salinger's hair is close to the top edge but is not cropped, indicating an early issue).

Condition

Cloth lightly rubbed, with occasional faint soiling and bumping, endleaves and text lightly toned, bookseller's ticket on rp.; jacket somewhat toned, rubbed, soiled, some neat occasional trimming at upper jacket edge, light scratch on rear panel at Salinger's hairline. The red in the jacket artwork is still vibrant. Fine. FIRST EDITION OF SALINGER'S LANDMARK COMING-OF-AGE NOVEL.
