Illustrated with many photogravures of popes, English royalty, and American presidents + five colored plates with tissue guards including the frontispiece. Large Folio. Spine sunned, covers unevenly toned with occasional staining and scuffing, interior hinges starting; reinforced with later endpapers. Provenance: from the collection of Betsy Flagg Melcher (1900?1991), the noted American portrait painter.
