Sex Pistols. Never Mind the Bollocks Here's the Sex Pistols (SPOTS001). UK: Virgin, 1977. Presumed ORIGINAL FIRST PRESS SPOTS001 LP IN SHRINK WITH 7" AND POSTER, presenting all points except hype sticker, including: A3/B1 matrix runouts; 11 track-pressing omitting "Submission"; Chris Thomas and Bill Price producer credits; 7" single, poster, and shrink; and proper timing. Due to the unexpected arrival of a Belgian pressing in the UK, Virgin decided to advance the album's release from its planned November launch to October 28. Between 10,000 and 50,000 copies of SPOTS001 were made and distributed to record stores in the UK and France, where the packages were often sold or given to NMTB customers as separates. In November, the rushed 11-track October pressing was replaced with a 12-track version that included the "Submission" single, making the earlier pressings a scarcity of only a few weeks. The absent hype sticker is within known parameters for issues of SPOTS001, but an additional peculiarity is the collage poster by Jamie Reid. SPOTS001 listings cite the poster at 39 x 25", while this example measures 35 3/4 x 24".
Poster with light rubbing and edge wear, three horizontal and two vertical folds. Light rubbing and edge wear to sleeve; shrink whole with one marginal tear at back. Missing original LP inner sleeve. Discs exceptionally clean, with very minor surface wear. Not tested. NM/NM.
