SHAFFER, Peter (1926-2016). A pair of first editions of Amadeus. London and New York: Andre Deutsch and Harper & Row, 1980, 1981. FIRST ENGLISH AND FIRST AMERICAN EDITIONS. This play is the basis of the award-winning film (1984) starring Tom Hulce as Mozart and F. Murray Abraham as Salieri; the film won a slew of awards, including the Academy Award for Best Picture, Best Director (Milos Forman), Best Screenplay from Another Source (Shaffer), and Best Actor (Abraham; Hulce was also nominated for this award).
