[DAVENPORT BROTHERS] HOUDINI, Harry (Erik Weisz, 1874 - 1926). Signed Houdini Magazine Gifted to the Davenport Brothers' Family. The August 1911 issue of The Magician edited by Will Goldston and featuring a full-length image of Houdini on the front wrapper by Fred Velasco, with a three-page story by Houdini inside regarding the Davenport Brothers and their career, illustrated with photographs from Houdini's collection. INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY HOUDINI on the front wrapper in pencil, "Compliments of H Houdini."

The story, "Some Notes of the Davenport Brothers" begins on page 175 and includes the following: "[Houdini] was a personal friend of Ira Davenport, and was about to pay him a visit when his death was announced. The next day he sent us these notes, together with the ... photographs reproduced on this page."

Houdini most mailed this periodical to Ira Davenport's heirs who kept it among the family papers for over 100 years.

Strong old folds with splitting to front wrapper; fair to poor condition, but intact.
