HOUDINI (Erik Weisz, 1874 - 1926). Signed Portrait of Houdini and Kellar. New York: Apeda Studio, ca. 1917. Three-quarter length image of the two famous American magicians dressed in wool overcoats and holding hats in their hands. Mounted to thick contemporary card (likely by the photographer). 10 x 8". SIGNED in ink by Houdini and Kellar. An uncommon image, and RARE with both autographs.

This photograph was most likely captured on Kellar's visit to New York in 1917 when Houdini paid tribute to him, along with other members of the S.A.M., at the New York HIppodrome as part of a "remember the Antilles" program. At the conclusion of the show, Kellar was carried about the stage by his peers and lauded as a hero and as the Dean of American Magicians.
