SILENT MORA (Louis McCord). "Silent" Mora Chinese Sticks. Boston, 1956. Cords running through each bamboo stick react in sympathy to each other. As one end is pulled, the other retracts, and vice versa, even though the cords are not connected. Hand-made and painted by Mora, both SIGNED AND DATED IN HIS HAND (Nov. 28, 1956), and inscribed with proverbs: ?More men are drowned in the bowl than in the sea," and ?A man with a sour face should not open a shop." Length 12". With a hand-stitched cloth carrying bag.Mora was a talented vaudeville and Chautauqua performer who crafted a small range of tricks while living out his golden years in a Boston-area rest home. The Chinese Sticks were his most popular product.
