Original decorated blue cloth gilt; original dust jacket (a bit toned, chipping at extreme ends). FIRST EDITION of this monumental work by the authority on silhouettes. [LAID IN WITH:] 10 ALS by Jackson to H. Palmer thanking him for providing numerous samples of silhouettes for this work. ?? [Also:] COOK, Jane E. The Sculptor Caught Napping. [London:] The Autotype Fine Art Company, n.d. [ca. 1870s]. 4to. Numerous illustrations after designs by the author. Original gilt?decorated green cloth. Provenance: A.M. Broadley (bookplate), recipient of the author?s inscription and letter. Third edition, PRESENTATION COPY INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR and includes a 4pp. ALS on bifolium also from Cook.
