[SPECIMEN ALBUM - SEAWEED]. HUMPHREYS, Matthew Hale (1836-1913). A specimen album with samples of seaweed collected in 1901 from Dover, England. 4to. Over 220 mounted specimens on 55 leaves, many captioned in manuscript. Original cloth (extremities rubbed, color illustration mounted on front pastedown). Provenance: M.H. Humphreys (ownership inscription on front pastedown). Humphreys was listed as a medical practitioner in the late 19th to early 20th centuries and was most likely collecting seaweed for its health-promoting properties.
