[iv], [1]-619, [3, blank] pp. Publisher's full light brown cloth, boards and spine decoratively stamped in dark brown, pictorial endleaves (sheet music for the ?Battle Hymn of the Republic"), publisher's unclipped (?2.75" / ?First Edition") pictorial dust jacket designed by Elmer Hader (very minor rubbing to cloth, very minor occasional offsetting to endleaves; jacket with the smallest amount of toning to spine, and minor marginal rubbing or light creasing, front jacket flap with a light crease). Bright and fine.FIRST EDITION, AN UNUSUALLY BRIGHT COPY, ONE OF THE NICEST WE'VE SEEN. This landmark novel won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction (1940) and the National Book Award (1940). It was also the basis for the classic film (1940) directed by John Ford and starring Henry Fonda.
