STEINBECK, John (1902-1968). Typed document signed (?John Steinbeck?) for the screenplay ?Emiliano Zapata?, 12 January 1949. One page, 4to (279 x 210 mm). A contractual agreement between Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation and Steinbeck in regard to an ?Option Agreement? which extends the deadline for a completed script by three months due to the author?s ?ill health?. Accepted and SIGNED BY STEINBECK. Released in 1952 as Viva Zapata!, the screenplay starred Marlon Brando and Anthony Quinn and was nominated for several Academy Awards including best story. This was Steinbeck?s only completely original screenplay.
