[STONEWARE]. [NELSON, Lord Horatio (1758-1805), subject]. Saltglaze Stoneware Nelson Full Bust Character Jug. [London: Doulton & Watts, ca. 1830s]. This splendid full bust character jug in saltglaze was made at the Doulton & Watts Lambeth Pottery. The salt-glaze is two toned on the hat, and features superior detail on the coat which displays Nelson?s Orders. Approximately 7 x 10 x 6?. The handle is sculpted in the form of a queue or pig-tail, and two minor chips at the base rim. No manufacturer?s hallmark on bottom. Fine. Captioned at bottom: ?Trafalgar 1805 / England Expects that Every Man Will Do His Duty.?
