Large portfolio of 12 chiaroscuro woodcut prints printed in black and brown, all signed in the plate by Strang. With title-leaf. Plates on watermarked paper. Approximately 16 ? x 23?. Loose, as issued. Housed in publisher?s brown cloth folding portfolio (portfolio edged in later brown cloth tape, some wear, soiling to portfolio; plates toned with some edgewear, title-leaf toned and creased at edges). Very good. FIRST EDITION, ONE OF 140 COPIES. These woodcuts are based on Hans Holbein?s Dance of Death (1526).
