[TEXANA]. [WADE, Houston, compiler]. Notes and Fragments Of The Mier Expedition. [La Grange, TX:] La Grange Journal, 1936-1937. 8vos (different sizes, as issued). 2 Volumes. A few intertextual illustrations. 158; 161 pp. Publisher's full green cloth, spines lettered in gilt (minor rubbing to bindings, front board of volume II is lightly bumped at top, endleaves offset). Fine. FIRST EDITIONS OF THESE VOLUMES, PRESENTATION COPIES INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR ON BOTH FFEPS. Volumes are inscribed to Hardin H. Jones, each inscribed in the year of publication. Additionally the author has numbered both volumes (?No. 30" and ?No. 36") above the inscriptions, indicating a limited print run. Volume II is stated ?Second Edition" on the title-page, but this is false; this should read ?Second Volume," as the contents, as stated in the author's preface, is completely new material. An important and rare account of the disastrous Mier Expedtion of 1842-1843, the forced march of Texas prisoners through Mexico and their imprisonment in Perote prison in Veracruz. A portion of volume I appeared in a 1912 pamphlet, otherwise all other material is the first appearance. From the renowned personal collection of Dr. George D. Lacy. Measurements: 9 x 7 x 1".
