THAYER, Floyd (1877 ? 1959). Two Scrollwork Wooden Shelves Crafted by Floyd Thayer. Circa 1950s. Finely built decorative wooden shelves with intricate scrollwork patterns and mirrored backs. Walnut or mahogany construction with metal mounting brackets to each side. Approximately 31 x 29 x 6?. From the estate of John Zweers, founder of the S.A.M. Magic Hall of Fame. Zweers grew up across the street from Floyd Thayer (in Thayer?s later years, after retirement from his famous eponymous magic manufacturing business). It was Thayer who gifted these shelves to Zweers. They were used them to display Zweers? collection of Thayer-made wood turnings. A few chipped areas evident, as well as evidence of prior repairs; fragile but intact. Third party transportation required.
