The Anti-Jacobin Review and Magazine; or, Monthly Political and Literary Censor? London: J. Plymsell, T. Crowder, R. Bostock, etc., 1799-1806. 20 volumes, 8vo. Volumes I-III illustrated with 11 (mostly folding) plates by James Gillray (1756-1815) and one facsimile; apparently, volumes IV and onwards were not illustrated. Contemporary half brown calf over marbled boards, several volumes with burgundy gilt morocco lettering labels, and black gilt numbering labels on spines (bindings generally worn, soiled, a few loose boards, several volumes lacking spine labels, text with occasional wear, foxing, soiling). Provenance: Each volume with a gift bookplate from an educational foundation. A near consecutive run, (volumes I-VII, IX-XII, XIV-XXII) of this rare Tory political and literary magazine. This magazine was founded by John Gifford (1758-1818) and ran until 1821.
