The Battle Between Cribb and Molineaux. Cornwall, England: Walker and Knight, October 3, 1811. Hand colored etching of Tom Molineaux and Tom Cribb, preparing to box in the rematch of their famous fight for the English heavyweight championship. The caption reads as follows: “The Battle between Crib (sic) and Molineaux, fought at Thisleton Gap in the County of Rutland, Sept. 28th, 1811 for 600 Guineas. It was terminated in 11 rounds, fought in 20 minutes, in which Crib was victorious, the Moor was carried off senceless with a broken jaw…” 18 x 14”. Good impression and coloring, with marginal faults not affecting printed image. Evenly toned. Good.
