Black cloth lettered in red, pictorial unclipped jacket advertises the film adaptation starring Robert Montgomery. Red top edge. 8vo. 216pp. Creases and losses around jacket edges, light soiling to cloth. Sold with copies of three other novels by Chandler [each poor/fair] also issued to coincide with film adaptations, comprising: The Big Sleep (ca. 1946; heavily soiled cover and jacket); Farewell My Lovely (Tower Books, 1945; second ptg.); and Brasher Doubloon (Tower Books, 1946; second printing; covers and inside pastedowns heavily soiled).
