Dryden, John. The Works of John Dryden. London: James Ballantyne, 1808. First collected edition, eighteen volumes bound in full calf, re-backed with new endpapers, gilt in six compartments with raised bands elaborately tooled in gilt and two morocco spine labels titled in gilt. Illustrated with an engraved frontispiece portrait of Dryden in volume one, folding plate in vol. vi. 8vo. Joints gently rubbed, corners bumped, light foxing throughout. A fine set. This remains the standard edition of Dryden?s works.
