Ii, [1]-186 pp. Bound in near contemporary black morocco backstrip over marbled boards, spine ruled in blind in compartments, five raised bands, gilt-stamped in compartments, marbled endleaves (some edgewear to boards, hinges lightly starting, some occasional toning in text, maps with a short tear, or minor marginal chipping). Fine.FIRST EDITION OF THIS SCARCE POSTHUMOUSLY WORK. Bound without Errata and publisher's ads. This work posthumously assembled from the journals of Bowdich about his travels in the interior of Africa. He died young of malaria while in Bathurst in Australia. Measurements: 9"L x 6"W x 1"H.
