Two German Joke / Magic Sets. Germany, late 19th century. Two paper-covered boxes with pictorial labels titled in four languages (?Assortment of joke articles?). The gags ? many relating to smoking ? include a faux cigarette which whistles, a box of matches that won?t light, a mouse popping out of a matchbox, two ?Toilette? cases which show a distorted mirror image and a face sticking its tongue out; and various others.
