[Victor, Edward] Hand Shadow Props. British, ca. 1940s. Being a collection of approximately 20 appliances used for various classic hand shadows as performed by Edward Victor and his contemporaries, and including many of the classic forms, among them a pulpit, spectacles, rum bottle, hats and heads, frying pan, and other accoutrements used for various shadow ?plays.? A few articles made from heavy board, but most of tin, painted black. Most likely owned by the great British performer Edward Victor, whose act of ?handmade humour? was built around shadowgraphy and sleight-of-hand. Including a lengthy letter from Ronnie Alden regarding Victor, a signed Victor photograph, and one or two other pieces of ephemera.
