Virgil (Virgil Harris Mulkey). Virgil’s Chinese Lion Costume Robe. Intricate multi-colored robe heavily ornamented with mirrored beads, fur trim, tassels and gold thread, with a multitude of fanciful animals such as a bat, moth, butterflies, birds, koi fish and a giant lion on the front, bearing its teeth and sticking out its tongue. Includes two headdresses; a pair of Chinese-style silk boots; and three vintage photographs, one showing Virgil wearing the robe during a performance, and two depicting Virgil wearing each headdress. Robe is tattered and mended in many places, with heavy wear from use.
