Fine. Housed in modern full green silk, green morocco-tipped slipcase. FIRST EDITION, AUTHOR'S COPY, WITH HIS ARMORIAL BOOKPLATE ON THE FP. In addition, there is the bookplate of British Army officer, Captain H. V. Clegg on the ffep., as well as his signature on the title-page. Clegg was an officer in the Honourable East India Company Service, linked to the 32nd Regiment of Bengal Infantry. It is unclear if Burnes and Clegg served together.
