Boards worn, scuffed, spine somewhat worn, hinges repaired, endleaves and text toned, foxed, thumbsoiled, title-page and contents page neatly trimmed at top with no apparent loss, faint portion of ownership signature on title-page, maps with light rubbing, a few short tears. No half-title. Near fine. FIRST ENGLISH EDITION. Horneman explored the interior of Africa. His expedition was delayed by the arrival of the French and the imprisonment of all Europeans. He was freed after Napoleon's arrival, with the emperor allowing Horneman's transmissions of information to London.
