The second inscription is on the half-title: "For Gale Hinckley / with greetings from E B White". This famous children's novel is the basis of several film, television, and stage adaptations. In 2000, Publisher's Weekly stated that the paperback version was the best-selling children's paperback of all time.

cloth binding soiled and lightly scuffed, lightly edgeworn, lightly toned, bookseller's ticket on ffep (not affecting inscription); jacket worn, soiled, chipped with tears, several tape repairs to verso, spine toned. A very good copy in a good jacket. Housed in modern quarter red morocco clamshell case.
