[WIZARD OF OZ]. EBSEN, Buddy (1908-2003). Signed Photo of Ebsen as the Tin Woodsman. [N.p., ca. 20th century]. Later printed photo of Ebsen in the Tin Woodsman costume without makeup. Signed by him at a later date in upper left corner in silver ink. 10 x 8".
Ebsen had a long acting career on stage, film, and television. Ironically, perhaps one of his most famous roles was one that he had to back away from - the Tin Woodsman in The Wizard of Oz (1939). He had a terrible allergic reaction to the silver makeup, and so couldn't continue - he was replaced by Jack Haley. This shot was most likely a test fitting for the costume.
Lightly wrinkled, spotted. Very good.
