[WORLD WAR I ART]. MCGILCHRIST, Lieutenant John (British, 1893-1977). Sopwith Snipes Attacking German Airplanes. [Ca. 1917]. Watercolor on board. Signed lower right. Approximately 13 x 19 ??. Frame (glass): 25 ? x 18 ??. McGilchrist was a pilot observer of the Royal Flying Corps. This following 11 works were featured in the?Brushes With War, an exhibition at the World War History & Art Museum in Alliance, Ohio from 2011-2014 A companion art book of the collection was published by Schiffer Publishing in 2014. The whole collection was also featured in an exhibition of the same title in the Kelvingrove Museum in Glasgow, Scotland from 2018-2019 as the centerpiece of Glasgow?s centennial commemoration of the end of World War I. Paper toned. A few random foxing marks. Excellent condition. Not examined out of frame.
