[AMERICANA]. [POST REVOLUTIONARY WAR]. The Commercial Conduct of the United States of America Considered, and The True Interest thereof, Attempted to be Shewn by a Citizen of New-York. New York: S. and J. Loudon, 1786. 8vo. 21 pp. Bound in modern half brown calf over marbled boards, gilt spine (light rubbing to binding; title-page chipped at upper corner with loss to the word ?Conduct,? some ink notations on title-page, text tone, soiled, creased, edgeworn). Good. THE SCARCE FIRST EDITION, WITH THE OWNERSHIP SIGNATURE OF BRIGADIER GENERAL (LATER MAJOR GENERAL) JAMES WADSWORTH, OF THE CONNECTICUT MILITIA DURING THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR. After the Revolutionary War, Wadsworth was a delegate to the Continental Congress from Connecticut. He later opposed the adoption of the U. S. Constitution. An interesting association, given that this pamphlet was critical of the Articles of Confederation and their inability to govern trade and raise taxes. Measurements: 9 x 7 x ??.
