Archive of 49 Press Reference Photographs of Political & Cultural Figures. Circa mid-20th century. Small-format press reference photographs. The group comprises portrait and candid images of political leaders, cultural figures, and public personalities, many identified on verso in type or manuscript, including Alexei Kosygin, King Hussein of Jordan, Helen Keller, Nat King Cole, Bob Hope, Abbie Hoffman, James Hoffa, Jawaharlal Nehru, and others. The photographs—primarily gelatin silver prints, several with Polaroid characteristics—bear typical editorial markings, file numbers, and captions, indicating use as reference images for publication layouts, clipping files, or news archives. A cohesive and evocative archive illustrating mid-century press image circulation and newsroom practice. Each approximately 3 1/4 x 4".
