Berkeley “Smoke-In,” Press Photograph with Newspaper Clipping. 1973. Gelatin silver press photograph by Don Lau, dated May 8, 1973 on verso, depicting a group of youths gathered along a graffitied wall reading “Beer and Weed Is All You Need,” in Berkeley, California. The image relates to a marijuana “smoke-in” demonstration, as confirmed by the accompanying newspaper clipping (“Weeding in Berkeley,” San Francisco Chronicle, May 1, 1973), in which the photograph was published. Mounted to a larger sheet (7 3/4 x 11”). Photograph 5 3/4 x 9”.
Condition
Light wear, clipping toned and affixed. Very good.
