Signed by her in black ink beneath the caption. Photo 5 ? x 3 ?"; mount 8 ? x 6 ?". Mount toned, soiled. Fine. The play's author, Edmond Rostand, created this title role specifically for Bernhardt, and it was not unusual for Bernhardt to play male characters. L'Aiglon became one of her signature roles.
