Blue Phantom. German, ca. 1920. An early and very large model of the Hans Trunk parlor trick. A blue checker stacked among a quantity of yellow checkers moves to the top, center, and bottom of the stack when it is covered by a patterned paper tube. Unusual mechanism concealed in base with trigger underneath for activation. Nickel-plated base, wooden checkers, heavy painted paper shell, and patterned paper covering tube. Base diameter 9", height 19". Checker diameter 3 ?". Finishes all quite worn with some paint loss and chipping, but very good working condition. Perhaps the largest version of this effect we have offered, and the first of this type.
