BRYNNER, Yul (1920-1985). Inscribed Photo of Brynner as "The King," to Gossip Columnist Hedda Hopper. [N.p., ca. 1950s-1960s]. Black and white photo of Brynner in costume as "The King" from The King and I (most likely from a stage production) with Hopper. Inscribed in black marker: "Dearest Hedda, if you did not look wonderfully young I would name you the "King's" Godmother With Love Yul". Brynner is shown in this photo as his most famous role. Hopper (1885-1960) was one of Hollywood's most famous gossip columnists (rivaled only by her nemesis, Louella Parsons), and her influence could make or break careers. Photo is taped to glass at margins. An excellent association.
Some toning, wear, it appears that the photo may not be able to be safely removed from the glass. Good.
