[CHICAGO THEATER]. Huge Archive of Nearly 300 Vintage Programs for Chicago Theaters. [Chicago: ca. 1880s-1920s]. Printed programs for various Chicago theaters, with plays and other performances from Chicago and traveling companies. 

This enormous collection has programs featuring some of the most famous performers of the day, including Ethel Barrymore, Sarah Bernhardt, Lilly Langtry, Douglas Fairbanks, Frederick Warde, John Phillips Sousa, Henry Irving and Ellen Terry (Irving's personal secretary was Bram Stoker, author of Dracula, who supposedly based the vampire on Irving), Maude Adams, George M. Cohan, Ziegfeld Follies, Thomas Ince (mentioned as a producer - he was supposedly murdered by William Randolph Hearst), D. W. Griffith (Intolerance), David Belasco (as producer), and more. 

Condition

Programs heavily worn, chipped, with tears. Fair. Housed in modern binder with plastic sleeves. Sold as-is.
