[CHESTER MORRIS]. Morris Family Archive, Including Ephemera from "All the Horrors of Home". V.p., late 1800s- mid 1900s. Includes the script and poster image for the 1924-5 production of "All the Horrors of Home," written by actor William Morris, and starring five of the Morris family members.
The oldest Morris sibling, Gordon Morris, though not an actor like his siblings, also loved the stage and screen enough to become a motion picture screenwriter. The lot also includes an original screen story adaptation of The Molly Maguires, written by Gordon, along with a double-sided two-page handwritten letter from Gordon's wife, Helen. Enclosed in the letter are the major studios that rejected Gordon's script, including MGM, Universal, and Paramount. She goes on to express her shock at learning that The Molly Maguires would conveniently be adapted... just by Wayne Broehl, and mentions her dying to see if Broehl's script looked just like Morris's.
Also included are a collection of family photographs featuring siblings Chester, Adrian, and Wilhelmina, along with parents William Morris and Etta Hawkins, through their lives.
