Coffee or Hot Punch Vase. European, ca. 1880. Tall metal container with lid is filled with burning cotton and covered; when the lid is lifted, the embers have become hot coffee or punch which may be distributed to the spectators. Fine hand painted toleware with floral pattern and gilt accents and flame-shaped finial. Base made of turned wood. Bayonet catch in outer sleeve. Height 15 ?". RARE in this form.
