[CORRESPONDENCE] Archive of Johnny Thompson's Magic Correspondence. 1970s - 2000s. A large group of over 100 letters, contracts, notes about magic effects, lists of current routines, ideas for tricks and illusions, and sketches, both in the hand of Johnny Thompson, but primarily from other correspondents and magicians to Johnny and Pam Thompson. Included are a congratulatory telegram from Wayne Newton, many TLSs and ALSs from Pete Biro, letters from Jane Thurston, Harry Riser, Ken Brooke, Brad Holbrook, Frank Everheart, Jay Marshall (including several Polish jokes), Stan Irwin and other show producers, Norm Nielsen (a quantity), and dozens and dozens more. Many letters describe the methods for magic tricks or routines for performers, while others relate business matters and discuss contracts for forthcoming shows. A group of 1970s-era contracts for Tomsoni appearances are also included from various casino shows.
Also included are Christmas cards and postcards, news clippings, brochures, photographs, instruction sheets for magic tricks, scripts for various shows either written by Tomsoni or produced by him or his colleagues, notes and drawings, theatre programs (including several for productions starring Bob Crane and co-staring Pamela Hayes (Thompson)), souvenir items related to Tomsoni & Co. performances (some SIGNED), and printed ephemera of all kinds. Primarily 4tos, with original mailing folds, and many with their original mailing covers. A fascinating and extensive group of material related to the great "general practitioner" of magic and his wide-ranging career. Should be seen.
