Mummy CDV Photograph. Lima, Perú: Courret Hermanos, ca. 19th century. Albumen carte de visite depicting a seated mummified figure, posed upright with limbs drawn inward, presented as an ethnographic or archaeological subject. Mount with printed studio credit at lower margin, “Courret Hermanos, 71 Calle del Palacio, Lima,” with matching photographer’s imprint on verso.
Courret Hermanos were among the leading photographic studios in 19th century Peru, known for documenting local types and antiquities. Image retains strong tonal range with typical albumen warmth. A striking and uncommon South American ethnographic image.
