[ETHNOGRAPHIC]. Unusual CDV Portrait of Bearded Male with Inscription. 19th century. Albumen carte de visite featuring a bust-length studio portrait of a bearded male sitter, presented within an oval vignette against a plain background, consistent with late 19th-century ethnographic photographic practices. Verso with period ink inscription reading, “This Gentleman sends his love to you,” along with initials and notation at top (“Mr. E.E.W.”). No photographer’s imprint present. Approximately 4 x 2 1/2".
Condition
Light overall toning, minor surface wear and edge handling; inscription remains clear and legible.
