Large zinc plate mounted to hardwood block used to print the bookplate of noted scholar, author, professor, and magic collector Edwin A. Dawes. Pictured is an alchemist experimenting in a laboratory beside a copy of Porta's famous book. This block is for the larger version of Dawes' bookplate. 3 ? x 5 x 1". Together with five other blocks used to print portraits of Dawes, and one of his Christmas Cards.
