[167] pp. Bound in contemporary three-quarter brown levant morocco over marbled boards, spine lettered in gilt in compartments, five raised bands, top edge gilt, marbled endleaves (original wrappers not bound-in).

Condition

Spine sunned and edgeworn, light wear to joints, some edgewear to boards, text and plates a bit toned, with occasional faint creasing, pencil markings on front endleaves. Very good. FIRST EDITION. This title was the first book published with plates printed in the "photoglyptic" process (this process is considered the precursor to the photogravure process).
