Handsomely bound in contemporary half blue calf over red marbled boards, spines ruled, tooled in gilt in compartments, five raised bands, burgundy gilt morocco lettering label on spines, top edges gilt, marbled endleaves.
Condition
Spines uniformly sunned to green, some edgewear to spines and corners, text a bit toned. Each volume signed by the previous owner on a front blank, Lena Cadwalader Evans. Fine. LATER EDITION SET OF THE CHRISTMAS BOOKS. Titles include: A Christmas Carol, The Chimes, The Cricket on the Hearth, The Battle of Life, The Haunted Man/The Ghost's Bargain. Laid-in is a typed list of invitees and their assigned characters - a "Dickens Party" costume party for Saint Agnes School Albany NY, November 28th 1889. A charming extra!
