Excelsior Card Rise (Any Card Called for Card Rise). Hamburg: Willmann, ca. 1936. A pack of 52 cards is placed in an open wooden houlette with nickeled handle. Any card is named (no force) and it rises from the pack isolated in the houlette, clipped between the performer's fingers. The effect may be repeated with any other card named. Lacks the simple gimmick, but includes the finely made gimmicked pack, houlette, and instructions. Provenance: The Larson Collection (purchased from the maker in June, 1936), Circus Museum of Sarasota collection, and Ken Klosterman's Salon de Magie. Bearing the inventory numbers of the latter two collections. RARE.
