FREUD, Sigmund (1856-1939). Autograph Note Signed. Wien IX., Berggasse 19: "9. X. 1930" [October, 9, 1930]. One 12mo page on one postcard-sized notecard on personal stationery. Approximately 3 1/2 x 5 1/4", text on recto only. Cardstock paper. Addressed "Lieber Herr [?] Doktor" and signed "Freud". 

Translation: "Dear Doctor: Just one word of thanks for the recognition of some minor hasty errors I would have corrected had I received the text earlier. Fondly yours Freud". It is possible that the text Freud alludes to is his landmark title, Das Unbehagen in der Kultur ("The Uneasiness in Culture"), better known as Civilization and its Discontents (published late 1930). Freud lived and worked at the Berggasse address for 47 years, until he was forced to flee the Nazis in 1938. Offered with a later printed portrait of Freud on cardstock (10 1/2 x 6 1/2").
