"Dear Mister Pfleeger: Goddamn it Arnold Isn't it possible that those bass are no longer there? That they might just have been concentrated there on acct of some sort of feed being there at the time? ... Also don't poop on trout on acct. of catching those liver feds. The proof of how many you caught in the first hour of flyrod shows their cathouse blood. But Trout Are Not A Cathouse... This book gets longer and longer. It must be pretty well over 100,000 now. But when you read it it seems very short. Has only taken one day one night one day and one night so far. One more day night and day to go. In the action of the novel I mean... It's not like the old days. Would go to France if there was a war but there isnt and [pencil mark leading to another typed line:] anyhow always prefer to die in the spring if possible. You meet much nicer worms."
