HOUDINI, Harry (Erik Weisz, 1874 - 1926). Signed 1927 SAM Membership Card. [New York, 1926]. A printed membership card, number 1266, in the Society of American magicians and issued for the year 1927. SIGNED by Houdini as president of the organization, and also signed by the secretary, Richard Van Dien. Matted and framed together with a 1930 membership card for another member, SIGNED by the then-president of the club, Houdini's brother, Hardeen (Theo Weiss). 8 x 6".

Houdini served as president of the S.A.M., the world's oldest magic society, from 1917 to 1926. Cards issued for 1927 such as this example are seldom encountered. Houdini pre-signed the cards in anticipation of being re-elected to his position for 1927. His brother Hardeen, a fellow escape artist, served as president of the Society from 1929 to 1930.
